BRADLEY REFOCUSED UNDER NEW TRAINER ATLAS AS HE VOWS TO OVERCOME BIG PUNCHING RIOS LIVE ON BOXNATION THIS SATURDAY NIGHT /www.peepblog.co.uk

LONDON (6 November)  - World champion Tim Bradley has vowed to dazzle this Saturday night against big punching Brandon Rios under the tutelage of new trainer Teddy Atlas.  The 32-year-old star has claimed he is a much improved fighter since joining forces with Mike Tyson’s one-time cornerman and that he is unfazed at anything the relentless Rios will throw at him.  “I don’t care what Rios is doing in his camp. I am only concerned about what I am going to do on fight night. I am absolutely, totally focused. I am not the same fighter I was before,” said Bradley.  “When Teddy came to camp he challenged me, not what I could do physically but my mental aspect of fighting. When Teddy came to camp he took a book of images of certain rounds I had fought previously.  “There were notes about what I did right and what I did wrong. No trainer of mine has ever prepared for a fight like Teddy has for me against Rios,” he said.  Two-weight champion Br...

HAMMOND READY FOR TOUGHEST TEST ON MUNDINE UNDERCARD / WWW.PEEPBLOG.CO.UK

HAMMOND READY FOR TOUGHEST TEST ON MUNDINE UNDERCARD   AUSSIE sensation Cameron Hammond says he'll be more than happy if he has to box his way to victory over Sahlan Coral on the undercard of the big Mundine v Hartley bill in Melbourne on November 11.   The 2012 Olympian has shown his devastating power in recent outings, with his last four opponents failing to hear the final bell.   But he's prepared to go the long route to take his record winning run to 15 fights and move a step closer to his dream of winning the Commonwealth welterweight title.   "I've got a good run of knockouts happening at the moment, but I honestly don't go looking for it at all," Hammond, 26, said.   "If it happens, it happens. I've been stopping guys with one shot lately which is exciting, but I'm more than happy going the distance too.   "I don't really know that much about my opponent apart from the fact he's going to be tough. I don't really tend ...

RICKY HATTON: ZHAKIYANOV IS A BIT OF AN ANIMAL / WWW.PEEPBLOG.CO.UK

RICKY HATTON is predicting an explosive ending to Zhanat Zhakiyanov's interim WBA bantamweight title fight with Yonfrez Parejo this weekend.   The teak tough Kazakh challenges for the crown at glitzy Salles des Étoiles venue in Monte Carlo on Saturday night (November 7) and 'The Hitman' believe his charge will put in a show-stopping performance.   "Zhanat is one of those fighters that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end because he's got such raw power," Hatton said.   "I've been training him for about two-and-a-half years now and he's seemed to get stronger and stronger each day since.   "He's knocked his last 12 opponents out and I believe he'll make it 13 on Saturday night.   "Obviously, Parejo is going to be a very tough opponent. He's won the interim belt and scored some good knockouts of his own, but Zhanat is a bit of an animal and I think he's going to be too much for Parejo."   Victo...

COLDWELL ECSTATIC WITH McDONNELL PERFORMANCE

Image
After guiding Gavin McDonnell to the most impressive win of his short career, Dave Coldwell is desperate to take his charge a level further as world class beckons following a wide points verdict over stubborn Frenchman, Jeremy Parodi. Defending his continental strap for the first time, McDonnell displayed an admirable maturity as he boxed to orders behind a tight guard twinned with superb movement as he obeyed every single instruction roared by his new mentor. Coldwell was delighted to see the plan pay off. “It’s so rewarding to see a fight play out exactly how you’ve prepared it to and I’m delighted that Gavin listened to me and remembered everything throughout what has been a long, disciplined camp. The result was a conclusive one and that’s a testament to Gavin’s dedication over the last couple of months because he’s been an absolute delight to have in the gym and last night was all about him. A lot of people beforehand had this a very close fight and on paper it was but Gavin...

LUCAS BROWNE: "I'LL FIGHT CHAGAEV ANYWHERE"

Image
LUCAS "BIG DADDY" BROWNE admits he's been waiting by the phone in anticipation of getting his World Boxing Association heavyweight title shot against Ruslan Chagaev. The big punching Aussie was made mandatory challenger for the crown in February this year, but his challenge was pushed back after Puerto Rico's Fres Oquendo managed to obtain a court ruling that allowed him to jump the queue and face Chagaev in a rematch of their July 2014 encounter. However, Browne now finds himself as next in line again due to Oquendo having to withdraw from an October 17 date due to a shoulder injury sustained in sparring. Both Browne and Hatton Promotions are keen to begin negotiations with Chagaev's team regarding a clash to held either before the end of the year or in early 2016, but are still waiting on the WBA issuing a clear resolution. "I can't wait to get my shot at Ruslan Chagaev," Browne, 23-0 (20 KOs), said. "I've been waiting patiently by the ...

SUDDEN IMPACT - BREAK DOWN BY PHIL LINDSAY

Image
Saunders detonates again on Tyneside card Sedgefield hotshot Jeff Saunders once again made quick work of his opponent on Saturday night as he made it four 1 st round stoppages in a row as he dispatched brave Polish import Sylwester Walczak, taking his professional record to 4-0. Saunders' victory was part of Steve Wraith's Sudden Impact show at Dunston's Lancastrian Suite. Saunders had stated his intent before the fight to take the opportunity should it come his way and he was true to his word, creating his own opportunities with some excellent inside work. Saunders landed with an excellent left-right combination which sent Walczak to the canvass, as well as sending the Pole's gum shield flying out of the ring. After the gum shield was retrieved, Saunders went straight in for the finish. It wasn't long before he landed a superb left hand to the body which had Walczak writing on the canvas and it was soon clear that he wasn't going ...

HOBSON HAILS DIN IN DEFEAT

Image
Dennis Hobson has hailed Waleed Din, even though the Sheffield fighter lost his Commonwealth flyweight title fight against Cameroon’s Thomas Essomba last Saturday (October 17). In an enthralling encounter at Rotherham’s Magna Centre, the pair put on an exciting show for the fans, with Sunderland-based Essomba ultimately proving too big and strong for Waleed, stopping the 22-year-old in the penultimate round. Din left everything in the ring, and had his successes, but was over in the fourth round and down three times in the eleventh before the towel came in and referee Steve Gray stopped the action at 1:30.  Essomba will likely defend his newly acquired title before potentially moving onto the world scene, while Din’s future looks certain to be below flyweight.   “The future for Waleed is to campaign at a lower weight,” explained Hobson.  “I’d always said that we’d probably need to move him down.  Credit to Waleed and Thomas, I’ve seen a lot worse title fi...

BoxNation will air big-punching Russian Alexander Povetkin’s showdown with Mariusz Wach exclusively live on a stacked bill on November 4th . The imposing Povetkin is coming off a stunning first-round stoppage over the skilled Cuban Mike Perez who he dismantled in just over a minute in May.  Following that win the 36-year-old is now on course for a meeting with WBC world champion Deontay Wilder but must first get past a dangerous foe in Wach, who like the Russian has only one loss on his record to that of boxing legend Wladimir Klitschko.  A new era is shaping up in the heavyweight division with both Povetkin and Wach among the frontrunners looking to stamp their mark in what has historically been boxing’s glamour division.  Poland’s Wach has been on a four-run winning streak since his setback to Klitschko in 2012 and against Povetkin, the man known as ‘The Viking’, will be looking to use his 6ft 7inch frame to dominate his smaller opponent.  ...
